co-founder Jeff Ament is showing some love to his home town of Glendive, Mont.

The bassist has donated $40,000 for the completion of a skate park there; Ament is an active skateboarder himself, and he requested that his money be used for, among other things, a two-chamber "amoeba pool" structure that's popular with beginning skaters.

In a statement, Ament said that skate parks are "a great place to get your energy out and explore your creativity." The park still needs another $28,000, according to reports.

Pearl Jam is currently touring Europe -- including festival dates in Poland and Belgium -- through July 11, then begins a U.S. run on October 1 in Cincinnati.
