Godsmack News Round-Up: Jackman/Wolverine Connection, Sully Talks Tour Exhaustion

LAS VEGAS, NV - APRIL 29: Godsmack frontman Sully Erna performs at The Pearl concert theater at the Palms Casino Resort April 29, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
received some surprising props recently -- from Hugh Jackman.

The stage and screen actor tells ArtistDirect that he prefers Godsmack music when he's working out in preparation for roles, particularly his "X-Men" character Wolverine:

"When I train, I listen to really hard stuff. While I'm working out I listen to a lot of Godsmack as loudly as I can. That's the closest to Wolverine that I can get."

Meanwhile, Godsmack has released the second of five planned behind-the-scenes webisodes leading up to the August 5 release of its new album, "1000hp." The set is Godsmack's first album since 2010's "The Oracle" and a hiatus that frontman Sully Erna tells us was brought on by "exhaustion" from the group's road work:

"It's the touring. The touring really breaks you down after a while and you need a break from it. And we didn't know that. We were just, the band, there was such a high demand for the band for such a long time we kept doing everything we were asked to do, and then you don't you realize you're not taking care of yourself and giving yourself the peace of mind you need and the rest to continue to have the energy to do it and it just broke us down and it took us some time apart to realize, y'know, that we really do have a special thing here. We just have to treat it a little more delicately and pay attention to each other and we'll be able to have a great, long career."

Godsmack has already released the title track as the first single from the 10-track album (11 at Best Buy). Godsmack hits the road to headline this year's Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival tour, which kicks off August 15 in suburban Detroit.
