Who Does Lars Credit For Kicking Coke? Noel Gallagher

LOS ANGELES, CA - MAY 12: Musician Lars Ulrich of Metallica performs onstage at the 10th annual MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert at Club Nokia on May 12, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
There have been a number of different “rock stars getting clean” stories, and they all usually involve some sort of acknowledgement or credit to someone or something that inspired them to live sober.

Some were inspired by their spouse or kicked their habits for their children.

Some found religion.

For Lars Ulrich, it was Noel Gallagher. (Seriously…no definitely, maybes about it.)

Per the U.K.’s Daily Mirror, Ulrich says that a decade ago, he read an interview Gallagher did where he bluntly said he stopped using cocaine.  Ulrich said that Gallagher’s statement “…felt so fresh, so honest, so pure — I love that side of him. I've never had an addictive personality, so I woke up one day and said: ‘enough.’”

I’m not sure what’s more interesting:  The fact that Lars just woke up one morning and decided to quit coke or the article's implied sentiment that he and Noel Gallagher are actually pretty good friends.  Talk about an unlikely pair!
