Jack White’s Big Record Store Day Surprise

We figured Jack White would have something special up his sleeve for Record Store Day!

Revealed in a Billboard cover story, White had purchased the first Elvis Presley recording at a Graceland auction in January. The two-track recording of “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin” was valued at around $100,000, but White, bidding anonymously via Internet auction threw down a whopping $300,000.

With that win, White will produce another win for his label, Third Man Records, and issue he rare recording on vinyl as a Record Store Day exclusive under the Third Man banner.

…And to think we thought he couldn’t top his “World’s Fastest Record” stunt from last year’s Record Store Day?!
