Another day…another Van Halen/Van Hagar drama. This one, however, is much different from the recent media spat between Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth.
Sammy recently appeared on The Eddie Trunk Podcast, where Eddie brought up how VH don’t play Hagar-era hits live anymore (around the 30:50 mark), and according to Sammy, he said that Eddie and Alex Van Halen “have had attorneys and people say ‘No, he can’t play them’” when the Red Rocker has tried to play any of those tracks on TV.
“I’ve hired an attorney and I’m gonna fight these guys to the end. Those are my songs! I wrote every lyric and every frickin’ melody on every one of those songs, and for those guys to say I can’t sing my own songs … oh my God, I’m going crazy,” said Hagar.
It’s one thing if Eddie and Alex don’t want to play those songs, but to try and stop Sammy from performing them? That seems to be a bit much. Can’t wait to hear if the Van Halens will respond….
