If AC/DC wants fans to "Have a Drink on Me" during its December 15 show in Auckland, New Zealand, it can't be alcoholic.
Following recommendations by Auckland police, the Waitemata Local Board approved a 24-hour dry zone for several blocks around Western Springs Stadium, cracking down on tailgating and alcohol service at nearby bars and restaurants. Board chairman Shale Chambers told Stuff that "the levels of intoxication and alcohol-related harm (is) likely at this type of event" and that such bans have "significantly assisted in curbing alcohol-related harm and offending in public areas" at other concerts and sporting events.
The zone includes the Auckland Zoo, and violators will face a $250 fine.
AC/DC is currently touring its native Australia, and the Auckland show is the final stop of the 2015 portion of the Rock Or Bust World Tour. No dates have been announced yet for 2016.
