Many Slipknot fans were taken by surprise Friday (June 3rd) when Corey Taylor announced he had undergone successful spine surgery resulting in the postponement of the first few weeks of the band’s tour with Marilyn Manson. Now Taylor has offered up some details as to why he needed surgery in the first place.
In a tweet, Taylor said, “Basically broke my neck a while back & didn’t realize it. Hade 2 have disc replaced & work on vertebrae. Those 1st shows rescheduled for Aug.”

Don’t know about you, but if anyone of us broke our neck, I think we’d notice.
Of course, the rumor mill still was running at full speed trying to connect Taylor’s surgery with his recent public announcement/selfie series chronicling of him quitting smoking, which resulted in another tweet that read, “Enough w/ the conspiracy theories. I quit smoking b/c I wanted to. I had emergency surgery b/c shit came up during my physical. Calm. Down.”

Crazy rumors aside, we’re glad Taylor is on the mend and can’t wait to see him back in action! In the meantime, we now get to enjoy these lovely neck brace photos.
