Guitar Techs: Rock’s Unsung Heroes

Much like a caddie is to a golfer, guitar techs are the keepers and caretakers of some of the most prestigious gear in the world. Considering that, it’s not uncommon for a guitarist to have the same tech tour after tour.

So, what’s it like to work for some of the biggest guitarists ever? Check out these interviews below to find out!

Pierre De Beauport

How much does Keith Richards trust De Beauport? Enough to have him as his guitar tech for the past 20+ years.

Scott Appleton

Appleton has been a tech for the likes of Peter Frampton and Def Leppard, but his work being the right-hand man for Rush’s Alex Lifeson has earned him the nickname “Great Scott.”

Lee Dickson

From 1979 to 2010, Eric Clapton trusted Dickson to be his tech. If Slowhand approves, how could you not be in awe?

Elwood Francis

Francis currently is the guitar tech for Billy Gibbons, but the rest of his 30+ year resume is just as impressive and includes the likes of Steve Vai, Joe Perry, Izzy Stradlin and Gilby Clarke.
