Have You Heard of Comedians "Chop and Steele"?

First appearing on the Western Wisconsin news, the fitness gurus Chop and Steele, have been making their rounds on the internet. The duo market themselves as professional strongmen and would demonstrate by lifting milk jugs, stomping on wicker baskets, and chopping tiny sticks.

However, just in case you could not tell by the videos, the two are not professional strongmen in real life. They are actually comedians and hosts of The Found Footage Festival, which “showcases footage from videos that were found at garage sales and thrift stores and in warehouses and dumpsters across the country” states the website.

This is not the first time that the two comedians have messed with a local morning show. Nearly seven years ago, they made up the character of a fake yo-yo champion. The yo-yo champion, known as “K-Strass” hit the news airwaves in the Midwest and would show off his sub-par yo-yo skills.

Back in 2014, they also tricked news stations, but this time with a chef named Keith Guerke. According to Dead Spin, the gimmick appeared “on five morning shows in the Wisconsin and Illinois” area.

However, this time around, Chop and Steele have managed to get the comedians in trouble. Mercury News reports that “the people behind Atlanta-based Gray Television, which owns WEAU-TV, filed a federal lawsuit the month in New York against The Found Footage Festival, Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher, all of New York.”

The lawsuit essentially states that using fake names and provide false information to their viewers was essentially misleading their audience. Prueher responded to the lawsuit and told Mercury News that “They’re trying to scare us, but we’re going to fight it because we’re well within our rights doing what we did.”

He went on to say that “it’s a little scary anytime someone names you in a lawsuit.” However, as we also agree, the whole case and reason behind the legal action is rather “amusing”!
