The great Lemmy Kilmister remains gone, but not forgotten.
The legendary Motorhead leader passed away during December of 2015 and is being saluted by the members of his other band, Headcat, with a new tribute single, “Born To Lose, Live To Win.”
Bassist Slim Jim Phantom and drummer Danny B. Harvey, who formed Headcat with Lemmy back in 1999, recorded the song earlier this year and will released it on June 23 for digital download, with a limited edition (300 copies worldwide) 7-inch single also available.
In a statement Phantom says that, “Lemmy was my true pal for 35 years. The…track is a tribute to his spirit, image and love of original rock and roll. With his gang, Motorhead, he made an everlasting impact on their fans, and…their legacy will continue to resonate for a long time.”
Harvey adds that, “This single is both dedicated to and a tribute to our dear friend and fallen leader. As about every Lemmy fan knows ‘Born To Lose, Live To Win’ was not only tattooed on Lemmy’s arms but also the credo he lived his life by. Rest in Peace, my friend.”
The single will be backed with “(This Train Is Going) Straight To Hell,” while the digital download includes the bonus track “T For Texas.”
Headcat is playing three U.S. dates starting Wednesday (June 21) in Austin, Texas, and three European shows during August, including two at the Wacken Festival. David Vincent will be taking Lemmy’s place on bass and vocals. Meanwhile.
Lemmy can also be seen in scenes from the upcoming horror movie Sunset Society, which are included in the new Jyrki 69 video “Bloodlust.” The film, in which Lemmy plays a vampire, is due out next spring.
