Iron Maiden Has New Beer on Tap

Iron Maiden is back in the beer business.

The group -- which has already released Trooper ale, Trooper 666 and a Red 'N' Black Porter -- is teaming again with Robinsons Brewery in England for a six-percent ABV Belgian-style beer called Hallowed.

The beer takes its name from "Hallowed Be They Name" from Maiden's 1982 album Number Of The Beast, and the label will feature Iron Maiden mascot Eddie dressed as a Belgian monk.

In a statement, Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson says that, "What makes this brew pretty special is that we're adopting a Belgian yeast for the first time. I'm a big fan of Belgian beers, so I jumped at the chance to brew my own. While I get very excited about experimenting with new formulas and ingredients, the thing about Belgian beer is that it's as much a way of life as it is a drink. We've tried to bottle that philosophy in Hallowed, albeit with a British twist."

Hallowed marks the first time that Robinsons has used a different yeast in one of its beers since 1942. Hallowed will be released during October and be sold for just four months, with more details to be announced soon.
