If you find yourself nodding off at your desk as you read this, we’re here to help.

A new study mentioned in The New York Times proves what you’ve always known in your heart to be true: a nap during the work day can do wonders when it comes to your focus and productivity levels. Even if your boss would frown upon you dozing for three hours during business hours, a short power nap can work wonders when it comes to revitalizing your in-office performance.

The study found that people who took a 30-minute power nap found that their deterioration in performance due to fatigue stopped. If they were able to squeeze in a full hour’s rest, their deterioration actually reversed.

A midday power nap has also been shown to help boost your ability to recall information and remain alert. Next time your boss finds you nodding off at your desk and is none too pleased about it, just show him or her this study and maybe they’ll let you snooze under your desk for a little while.
