Rock Candy

Lemmy Kilmister may be gone but Motörhead is hardly forgotten.

The group fronted by the iconic singer-bassist — who died during December of 2015 at the age of 70 — will release Under Cöver, an 11-track covers collection on September 1, featuring the trio’s renditions of favorites by Judas Priest, Metallica, the Ramones, the Sex Pistols and others, as well as an unreleased rendition of David Bowie‘s “Heroes” recorded during 2015.

Of the latter, Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell says in a statement that, “It’s such a great Bowie song, one of his best, and I could only see great things coming out of it from us, and so it proved to be, and Lemmy ended up loving our version.”

Drummer Mikkey Dee adds that, Kilmister “was very, very proud of it, not only because it turned out so well but because it was fun! Which is what projects like this should be — fun!. We should remember that it’s about having some fun with songs that we all loved.”

Under Cöver will be released on CD and vinyl, with a Super Deluxe box set containing both as well as a souvenir VIP pass.

One thing Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee liked to do over their years together in Motörhead, was grab a favourite song by another artist and give it a good old fashioned 'Motörheading'. To run them through the Motörizer if you will. To rock them, roll them and even give them an extra twist and edge.
