Stone Temple Pilots
may be dormant and without an acknowledged singer at the moment, but the group seems to have something brewing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its debut album, Core.

The set came out September 29, 1992, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard 200, going eight-times platinum and launching the Grammy and MTV Video Music Award-winning single “Plush.” STP recently posted a pair of videos online that show a hand-written list of band name ideas, including STP’s immediate predecessor Mighty Joe Young, sparking rumors of some sort of reissue, perhaps including unreleased material. There’s been nothing official from the STP camp, however.

The group reportedly has been working with a new singer (reportedly The X Factor finalist Jeff Gutt) to replace the late Scott Weiland. Chester Bennington, who was with STP from 2013-15, died on July 20.
