Metallica, Mastodon, Portugal. The Man and Gwar are among the acts taking part in this year’s Ten Bands One Cause project to fight cancer and raise money for Gilda’s Club in NYC.
The group’s will be releasing limited edition pink vinyl editions of their latest albums, with proceeds going to the organization, which supports, educates and empowers cancer patients and their families around the country.
This marks the fourth year for the Ten Bands initiative, and other participating artists this year include Four Year Strong, Blue October, Gary Clark Jr., Lucinda Williams, Thrice’s Dustin Kensrue and Lord Huron.
In a statement, Gilda’s Club NYC says that, “Now in our 22nd year, we reach more than 20,000 people annually through our Clubhouse and offsite hospital partners, and outreach through our website, health fairs, schools, corporate presentations, and inquiry calls. A cancer diagnosis can be an extremely isolating experience which triggers many emotions including fear, anger, depression and an overwhelming sense of helplessness. Men, women, teens, and children attend free support groups, educational lectures and workshops at the West Village clubhouse or at select medical centers throughout New York City.”
The pink vinyl editions of the albums, including Metallica’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct and Mastodon’s Emperor Of Sand, will be sold via retailers nationwide.
