According to USA Today, protests erupted in St. Louis after a former police officer was acquitted of first-degree murder charges stemming from the shooting death of an African-American man.
After the ruling was issued, angry residents protested. So far, 10 officers have been injured during the protests. Additionally, more than 20 people have been arrested.
The decision to cancel the show was made due to a lack of police officers available to properly secure the stadium. U2 said they did not want to risk the safety of their fans.
With protests continuing, the local police force will focus their efforts on keeping the streets of St. Louis safe.
