The Irish group, in the midst of the South American leg of its anniversary tour for 1987's The Joshua Tree album, has agreed to delay the start of its concert Tuesday (October 10) in La Plata, Argentina so fans could watch their homeland team play Ecuador in a qualifying match for next year's World Cup.
U2 also set up four giant video screens at the Estadio Ciudad de La Plata stadium so fans could watch the match, which Argentina won to earn a spot in the World Cup next year in Russia. U2 plays at the same venue again tonight (October 11). U2 wraps up the tour on October 25 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and will be releasing its new album, "Songs Of Experience," on December 1.
