Today (December 3) is Ozzy Osbourne’s birthday, and while the singer’s infamous wild moments tend to get a lot of attention, we’d like to recognize the lighter side of the Prince of Darkness.  So, in the spirit of the holiday season, here are some moments that we feel would land Ozzy on Santa’s “Nice List.”

Showing support for youth music programs

Ozzy was so moved by this cover of “Crazy Train” performed by the Louisville Leopard Percussionists that he sent the youth music program a check for $10,000 along with a note stating, “Myself, my whole family and my fans all loved your rendition of ‘Crazy Train.’ Keep up the good work.  God Bless, Ozzy Osbourne.”

Offering support to substance abuse programs

Ozzy has had his problems with substance abuse in the past, but he’s also been very vocal about helping those in need of assistance.  His efforts were acknowledged in 2014 by the MusiCares MAP Fund when the organization presented him with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award “for his commitment to helping other addicts with the addiction recovery process.”

Using his birthday for good

Let’s face it:  We’re all a little guilty of making things all about us on our birthday, but in 2013, Ozzy decided to use his birthday to inspire fans to donate to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
