Pay Tribute to Russ Solomon & Watch ‘All Things Must Pass’ ASAP!

Russ Solomon, founder of Tower Records, died Sunday evening (March 4) at the age of 92.

First reported by The Sacramento Bee, Solomon died “while drinking whiskey and watching the Oscars,” which might be one of the coolest ways to leave this Earth.

Solomon is by far one of the music industry’s biggest icons.  While Tower Records sadly folded in 2006, its influence cannot and should not be lost on the history books as evident in the 2015 documentary All Things Must Pass.

Directed by Colin Hanks, All Things Must Pass is a mind-blowing, yet bittersweet look at a time when record stores were landmarks, and it’s a film any music lover should check out.

In fact, after you’re done watching the doc, take a trip to your local record store and talk up the clerk about their latest recommendations.  That’s probably the most fitting tribute to Solomon.  Well…that and drinking some whiskey.
