NEW MUSIC: Rival Sons Latest Single “Do Your Worst”
For the first time since 2016’s Hollow Bones, Rival Sons are back with new music.
Just dropped today is the band’s latest single and video for “Do Your Worst,” which is the first track from their so far untitled sixth studio album that’s expected to be released in early 2019.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, lead singer Jay Buchanan said of the band’s new single, “Sometimes environment really shapes a song. Hunkered down in a threadbare shack deep in the south Tennessee woods we (guitarist Scott Holiday and I) sweated it out and just wrote for a week straight. We were set out on an old causeway surrounded by neglected reservoirs and overgrown with shit you don’t want to see and yes; infested with all manner snakes. The song is a whiskey nightmare crawling with copperheads to me.”
Fortunately, Rival Sons decided to record the album in a far more pleasant locale than that Tennessee shack. Instead, they opted for the ambiance of Studio A at the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, which is certainly no shack.
