Apparently, a potential David Bowie biopic is being bandied about, but his son, Duncan Jones, is clearly not too enthused about the idea. However, that’s not stopping him from having a little fun at the expense of those looking to capitalize on a biopic.
Jones took to his Twitter recently and posted the following: “They insist I take a meeting on a biopic about my dad. Who do I say must play him?” Jones then lists Idris Elba, Peter Dinklage, Meryl Streep and Gilbert Gottfried as potential casting choices.
In the extended comments of the original tweet, Jones writes, “I’m gunning for Idris. He can do ANYTHING!”
The extended comments also feature a spirited back-and-forth between Jones and Zelda Williams, the daughter of the late Robin Williams, who responds to Jones’ casting choices with, “All of the above, taking turns like in Dr. Parnassus. Let me know how it goes for when I inevitably am forced to take the same meeting one day.”
The lesson in all of this? Sometimes a “comment section” isn’t always an awful mess, however, don’t hold your breath on a Bowie biopic.
