Heavy metal’s most influential band is among seven artists receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award GRAMMY from The Recording Academy in 2019.

Per GRAMMY.com, Black Sabbath will be honored at a special award ceremony and concert on May 11, 2019 along with fellow Lifetime Achievement Award GRAMMY recipients George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Billy Eckstine, Donny Hathaway, Julio Iglesias, Sam & Dave and Dionne Warwick.

This will be Black Sabbath’s third career GRAMMY award.  The band has won two GRAMMYs for Best Metal Performance, with the first coming in 1998 for a live recording of “Iron Man” and the second in 2014 for “God Is Dead” off their album 13.
