Brace yourselves, Tool fans! Maynard James Keenan just gave a new update on the new Tool album.

Keenan tweeted the following today (February 8): “Update- Midway through mixing. Most likely be a few recalls. Then some arguing. Then Mastering, Artwork, Video, Special Packaging, etc. Best Ballpark Guess- Release date somewhere between Mid May and Mid July. More focused updates to follow as we progress. @tool #simplemath

This latest update comes after reports of Keenan denying rumors the long-awaited follow-up to 2006’s 10,000 Days will be coming out in April.

As to why he included that Megadeth/Metallica/Pantera meme, who knows?  Perhaps, he was trying to add some levity to a situation that’s been tense for fans (and likely the entire band) for years.

However, Keenan giving updates about the new Tool album is nice and all, but most of us are probably in “I’ll believe it when I see it” territory nowadays regardless of what’s said.
