Ozzy Osbourne Wishes Bill Ward Played on Black Sabbath Farewell Tour
Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward have had a war of words in the press about Black Sabbath‘s farewell tour not featuring Ward on the drums, but it sounds like Osbourne has had a change of heart when it comes to Ward.
In an interview with Kerrang!, Osbourne was asked about being quoted saying he didn’t enjoy the Sabbath farewell tour and was asked to elaborate why. He responded, “I didn’t like the fact that Bill Ward wasn’t there, for a start. People put that down to me, but it wasn’t me, honestly. We [Sabbath] didn’t have the f-cking time to hang around, we had to get going, but I’m sorry it didn’t work out with Bill. Tommy [Clufetos] did great, but the four of us started this, and it should have been the four of us ending it.”
Osbourne continued, “Those final gigs in Birmingham were bittersweet because you think of how far we came, and how much we did, and it would have been good to have shared that together. Maybe one day there’ll be one last gig, I don’t know.”
Ward hasn’t commented on this statement, but Sabbath fans the world over would surely like to see one more show from the metal pioneers featuring all four original members. As with most things in rock, we’ll just have to wait and see if this gig will ever happen.
