Kurt Cobain memorabilia has always been an interest for rock fans, and this piece is certainly as unique as its backstory.
Seattle record store Easy Street Records shared a photo of a royalty check for a whopping $26.57 made out to Cobain and dated for March 6, 1991, a mere six months before the release of Nevermind. The photo's caption reads, "Royalty check found at Easy Street today. #kurtcobain@nirvana This is dated 03/06/91, 6 months before #nevermind would change the face of the planet. We’re guessing the next royalty checks were a bit larger than only.... $26.57."
Matt Vaughan, the owner of Easy Street Records, told NME that the check was supposedly located in the stores for a long time and, "We just found it...or should say noticed it."
The check ended up in the record store as part of an old record collection they purchased in the early '90s. There were other finds in that collection, including multiple tour itineraries from Nirvana's tours supporting Nevermind and In Utero.
The future of these items has not been disclosed, but considering how fruitful the memorabilia market is nowadays, don't be shocked if you hear about some of these items hitting the auction block in the future.
