Can we finally admit that the name – “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” just doesn’t cut it? Don’t get me wrong, there are some valid inductees this year; Depeche Mode has an amazing catalog filled with radio hits and B-sides that are equally as hypnotizing. I think Trent Reznor and his body of work with/as Nine Inch Nails is nothing short of genius.  His ability to arrange and compose industrial synth sounds mixed with distorted guitar and loud thumping drum patterns should be celebrated.  However, (and I know some will disagree), it’s the “Rock” Hall.  That said, how is possible to induct Whitney Houston and Notorious B.I.G BEFORE Judas Priest?! I understand that the term “Rock N’ Roll” came to prominence in the 50’s and kind of described a broader range of styles.  But as time went on, Rock morphed into something unique and easily recognizable.  And some of this year’s nominees have none of those recognizable qualities!! I say the name gets changed to the “Music Hall Of Fame,” or the selections need to get better next year.
