Terrie Carr Celebrates World Radio Day!
When people ask me about being “in radio” and what it means to me it is quite simple. Everything. There is not a moment that I am not honored to serve our community, that I don’t appreciate engaging with our listeners and that I don’t enjoy being the ambassador of community and killer tunes.
When I was a young child I would sneak out of bed, get my clock radio and listen through the night. Radio was my friend, inspiration, discovery and pure joy. I started my radio journey at 19. Playing Christmas music at a small NJ AM station. When I graduated to FM it was better than graduating from High School! People ask me about memorable moments on the air and I have had so many…amazing artist visits, speaking to legends like Sting, Ozzy, Layne Staley, Rob Halford, AC/DC and Kiss, helping to raise funds for our beloved veterans and helping literally thousands of dogs find forever homes, and of course interacting with our listeners. The impact of WDHA also rings true when we see our music community coming out to support the station and our listening family. When New Jersey legends like Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora decided to helicopter into Morristown airport to visit the station because we are “New Jersey”, or when Little Steven Van Zandt makes us a part of his touring schedule and hangs with boxes of his favorite music to play on our airwaves, …. it brings me back to the reality of what WDHA means to so many. We are all one when it comes to the music and state we love. Listeners, artists, friends, fans….it all becomes one. Radio is community. And we need community. I’m honored to be a part of this community every single day.Thank you for allowing us into your lives………
