The Irish must really be feeling lucky this year because total spending for St. Patrick's Day is expected to reach a record of $6.16 billion. The National Retail Federation has reported that 56% of adults plan to celebrate the holiday with some big purchases in mind.

While most consumers plan to celebrate the holiday by wearing green, others are ready to attend a private party or visit a bar. The NRF even calculated how each region of the United States would celebrate with the Northeast ranking most likely to attend a parade.

Although St. Patrick's Day falls on a Tuesday in 2020, it doesn't seem to mater for those looking to have some green fun. The annual survey also revealed that more than half of shoppers will head to their nearest grocery store for St. Patrick's Day items.
