Google To Skip Annual April Fools’ Day Jokes Over COVID-19
Google’s April Fools’ Day jokes and pranks on April 1 will be put on pause for 2020.
It has been reported that the company will take the year off from the annual tradition out of respect for everyone battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the years we have witnessed hoaxes by Google including Google Romance, Gmail Paper, Comic Sans for Everyone, Google Tulip, among many others.
Statement obtained by <a href=”https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-google-cancels-april-fools-day-jokes-pandemic-2020-3″ target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”><em>Business Insider</em></a>:
“Under normal circumstances, April Fool’s is a Google tradition and a time to celebrate what makes us an unconventional company,” Google’s Marketing Chieft, Lorraine Twohil, said.
The Google April Fools’ Day fun first began in 2000 and will continue on next year.
This is not a joke.
According to @businessinsider, Google is taking a break from April Fool's this year out of respect for all those fighting Covid-19. https://t.co/DwN2VvbPLa
