Dave Grohl’s ‘Pandemic Playlist’ Includes Everything From The Cars To ‘Linus And Lucy’
Dave Grohl might be going stir-crazy from being quarantined. Although the multi-instrumentalist can clearly record music by himself (the first Foo Fighters album featured Grohl on all of the drums, bass and almost all of the guitars and his Play documentary was a solo project), he’s always been a band guy.
Separated from the other Foo Fighters, and his other musical collaborators, he’s taken to writing. His “Dave’s True Stories” Instagram account features text versions of Grohl’s stories: so far, he’s told the stories of how he once jammed with Prince, and about the time that the Foo Fighters played Ozzfest.
Now, he’s written a piece called “Dave Grohl’s Pandemic Playlist” for The Atlantic, where he shares his favorite songs for each phase of the pandemic.
Some rock classics appear in the playlist, including the Cars’ “Let’s Go” (for “Stage One: Preparation”), Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out” (“Stage Five: Online Learning”) and the Beatles’ “Here Comes The Sun” (“Stage Ten: Hope”). Also making his list: Smashing Pumpkins, Patsy Cline, LCD Soundsystem and Vince Guaraldi’s Peanuts jam, “Linus and Lucy.” Check out the whole playlist here.
