National Radio Day: Mike Anthony
I always had a love of radio ever since I was a young kid.
I grew up an only child here in New Jersey and so when I listened to the radio I felt like the DJ’s were my friends. As if they were speaking directly to me and it helped take away my loneliness.
I used to look forward to hearing new music from the bands I loved and getting turned on to bands I didn’t know. It was really exciting! When I went off to college to study TV Production at Marywood University, they were looking for people to do an on-air radio shift. I thought, why not? I’ll give it a shot.
Once I did….I couldn’t get enough! I fell in love and made my focus radio, not television. After graduating I worked at several different stations and several formats in the business before finally landing here at DHA.
Rock music has always been my true passion, so being able to be part of this team means a lot. Besides of course that I get to be alongside some amazingly talented folks.
Radio will always hold a special place in my heart….it’s free, it’s fun, it’s entertaining, and it keeps us all connected in a way- And that feeling is unbeatable.
I recently had the pleasure of checking out my old college station and man did it look different. Happy National Radio Day!!
