Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ Gets The Metal Treatment
‘Tis the season to hear Mariah Carey’s holiday classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” everywhere. However, if you were ever hoping for a metal version of the song, you’re in luck.
Metalcore band August Burns Red have released an instrumental cover of the hit. Embedded below, the track contains ample guitars and some heavy drums, too.
August Burns Red, of course, has a long history of releasing annual holiday covers for a number of years now. They even released the album August Burns Red Presents: Sleddin’ Hill in 2012, which was made up of instrumental metal version of Christmas standards including “Frosty the Snowman,” “Oh Holy Night,” “Jingle Bells” and more.
In a statement on the cover, guitarist JB Brubaker said, “This year, we decided to take a crack at the legendary Mariah Carey song ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’ This turned out to be one of the most fun holidays songs we’ve ever done, and a real head spinner for me on the guitar leads. I’m proud of how it came out and think it will be a staple for people looking for a little more metal in their holiday playlists.”
