Watch Robert Downey Jr.’s Weird Van Halen Tribute
Tony Stark may have been partial to Black Sabbath (Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark famously quoted Sabbath’s “Iron Man” at the end of the first Iron Man film in 2008 and again at the end of Avengers: Endgame; he also wore a Sabbath t-shirt in the first Avengers film in 2012), Suicidal Tendencies (he plays “Institutionalized” in his lab in Iron Man) and AC/DC (“Back In Black” was used in Iron Man while “Shoot To Thrill” and “Highway To Hell” were used in 2010’s Iron Man 2).
But Robert Downey Jr. seems to love Van Halen: in a new Instagram video, he’s seen wearing a red wig and dancing in a kiddie pool to VH’s classic jam, “Jump” from 1984.
“Who else is ready to #jump on in to 2021 ? Here’s to the new year…” he wrote.
Van Halen: Their 30 Best Songs, Ranked
Brian has been working in pop culture and media for about three decades: he’s worked at MTV, VH1, SiriusXM, CBS and Loudwire. Besides working as a writer and an editor-in-chief, he’s also appeared on air as a pundit, guested on radio shows and hosted podcasts. Over the years, he’s interviewed the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, the members of U2, Beyonce, Pink, Usher, Stevie Nicks, Lorde… and is grateful to have had the chance to interview Joe Strummer of the Clash and Tom Petty.
