Goodbye Vintage Vinyl! NJ music Institution Is Closing
If you are from NJ you must have an album, swag or memory from VINTAGE VINYL! New Jersey’s Premiere record store. It is so sad to see any NJ legend say goodbye, but in a mass email blast and Facebook post Vintage Vinyl owner Rob Roth said….
“Rob and Donna are retiring! Thank you for 42 wonderful years,” Vintage Vinyl- New Jersey’s most famous record store in Woodbridge/Fords New Jersey will be no more as on 7/31/21.
Rob also stated that the time is now to retire and spend time with his kids and grandkids that live out of state and although he wanted to sell the fave establishment of vinyl collectors in the state for over 40 years the deal he thought he had fell through.
In recent years Vintage Vinyl was home to a bunch of WDHA favorite artist signings and performances with everyone from Whitesnake singer David Coverdale to The Winery Dogs to Dorothy.
The store has been around for 42 years and was also a live music venue with so many incredible artists playing a few tunes before signing copies of their music.
I look thorough the cases of vinyl treasure I bought there most recently a bunch of Bowie gems and I can’t help but feel emotional and sad. Nikki Sixx even went undercover and worked the register as “Larry” as part of record store day…..awesome….
I’ll be sporting Kleenex in my Vintage Vinyl hoodie and t-shirt all week. TC
