With the Daniel Craig-era of James Bond officially in the rearview, the topic of the next 007 is something that’s front-of-mind for fans of the iconic British secret agent. For producer Barbara Broccoli, the identity of Bond is up for debate in more ways than one.
In an appearance on the Girls on Film podcast (as transcribed by Deadline), Broccoli said when asked about the possibility of a non-binary Bond with they/them pronouns, “Who knows, I think it’s open, you know? We just have to find the right actor.”
As previously reported, Broccoli and her brother/co-producer Michael G. Wilson said the search for the next Bond won’t even begin until sometime in 2022. Additionally, both Tom Holland and Dwayne Johnson have expressed interest in being the next Bond…James Bond.
