Dave Grohl Releasing New Metal LP with Foo Fighters Horror Film
Dave Grohl, ever the overachiever, has upped the ante with the upcoming release of the Foo Fighters' horror film Studio 666 and will also drop a new metal album, too.
Grohl teased the project earlier this week with the release of the track “March of the Insane” under the name Dream Widow. He explained in a recent interview how Dream Widow plays into the plot of Studio 666 saying, “I wind up finding this creepy basement. And I go into the basement, I find this tape by a band [Dream Widow] from 25 years ago that recorded there. And there’s this song that, if recorded and completed, the f—ing demon in the house is unleashed, and then, whatever, all hell breaks loose.” (This fictional band is the force that ends up stalking the Foos in their horror flick, which was inspired by the recording sessions of their latest album, Medicine at Midnight, which was recorded in a home that was allegedly haunted.)
Grohl tells Rolling Stone of the LP, “It will be the lost album. It’ll be the album they were making before he f—ing killed the entire band…I mean, I work fast, but f—, this deadline is going to kill me. Yes, I’ll get it out for the movie. By February 25th, there will be a Dream Widow record.”
Studio 666 hits theaters on February 25. Tickets are now on sale at Studio666Movie.com where fans can find a theater near them screening the film.
