Jersey Magazine 2-27-22
Each week on the Jersey Magazine we pick topics of local interest to our listeners.
Jim Monaghan‘s guest this morning is Bob Kendrick who is the President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City MO.
New Jersey has a rich baseball history including minor and independent league teams, and a Negro Leagues team in Newark. As we close out February and Black History Month, Jim Monaghan chats with Bob Kendrick, the President of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City MO about those Garden State connections. History Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson is about to undergo a $94 million renovation, bringing back to life a ball park with a deep connection to the Negro Leagues. Buck O’Neill, who will be posthumously inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this summer, served in the US Navy during World War II in New Jersey, and Don Newcombe was born in Madison. WDHA listeners who want to learn more about the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum can visit their website.
This week on Rock N’ Ruff, we present Kiki from PAWS MONTCLAIR. Kiki is a great dog who has been in the shelter system for two years and she’s so awesome! Kiki would love the chance to start over with her very own human family. Kiki is very smart and curious too. For more info reach out to Carol at [email protected].
COACH SHEETS’ RIDE IN – Jeremy Sheetinger is the head baseball coach at Georgia Gwinnett College where he led the Grizz Gang to the 2021 NAIA National Championship. His weekly “fire me up” tweet every Thursday may, on the surface, be geared toward his fellow baseball coaches, but his motivational message can easily be applied to the classroom, workplace, and your personal relationships. This week, Coach Sheets talks about how to manage our own ego to help others around us perform to the best of their abilities.
