Foo Fighters are experiencing a significant bump in music sales and streams following the sudden passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Billboard reports a number of titles and tracks seeing sales and streaming increases with the most notable being the band's 2009 Greatest Hits compilation, which saw a sales/streams increase of 179%. The album is number one on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart for the first time since its initial release. The set also went from number 24 to number 2 on the Top Rock Albums chart and went from number 147 to number 18 on the Billboard 200 chart, which tracks overall album sales across all genres.

Interestingly, the Foo Fighters track with the most significant sales/streaming bump was "Everlong," despite the fact this track's recording pre-dates Hawkins joining the band even though he appears in its music video. Billboard noted, "'Everlong' hits No. 1 for the first time on Hot Hard Rock Songs (which began in 2020), with 4.8 million U.S. streams (up 56%), 2.6 million in radio airplay audience (up 34%) and 1,800 downloads sold (up 391%.)"

Taylor Hawkins' sudden death at age 50 is a shock to rock fans and rock stars alike. Many have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the late Foo Fighters drummer.
