Kmart was once one of the largest retail chains in the country. But today there are only four stores left in the U.S. - and one of them is closing this week.
The Kmart store in Avenel, New Jersey is closing its doors for good on April 16th. That will leave just three stores remaining in operation - in Westwood, NJ, Long Island, NY, and Miami, FL.
Kmart was founded in 1962 and at its peak operated over 2,000 locations across the country. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2002 and a second time in 2018.
SafeWise has released its eighth annual Safest Cities report and Sparta Township is ranked No. 1.
The website which consists of online home security and safety experts took a close look at crime rates, and level of concern, among other things while creating the report.
What concerns do New Jerseyeans have the most right now? Property crime, package theft, and sadly, residents are 1.3 times more likely to worry about their safety now compared to last year.
SafeWise revealed that 244 cities out of the 565 located in New Jersey met the criteria to be considered for ranking in 2022.
