It has been reported that as of July 5, 2022, those who want to purchase gasoline at Costco pumps in New Jersey must have an active membership.
According to the Courier Post, signs have been posted this week at the Costco locations here in New Jersey, however, now it is being questioned if it's even legal. Regular unleaded gas was priced at $4.38 per gallon while it's now over $5 in most parts of the state.
There has yet to be an official announcement posted by Costco.

While the average price in New Jersey is currently at $4.21 per gallon, parts of the country are seeing up to $6 at their local gas stations and service areas.
