R.I.P Kelly Corless- A New Jersey Hero- #antlerridge
For over twenty years Kelly Corless Simonetti has been the founder (with her husband Jim Simonetti) of Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary in Newton NJ. The work they have done in rehabilitation, education, conservation and understanding the wildlife community is immeasurable. She is a legend in wildlife rehab and education.
Over the years I have heard so many of my friends tell me “how much you will love Kelly…you have to meet her” – and it wasn’t until I was connected with her for an interview to talk about the sanctuary via zoom that we actually got the chance to “sort of meet”. Boy were there right. I not only loved her, but the respect I had for the work she was so committed to doing and the passion for creating change for community with her beautiful sanctuary that meant so much to so many inspired me throughout our phone conversations and our Zoom interview. Plus. she was so much fun and such a spark plug!
Kelly was in between cancer treatments when we spoke and was determined to keep our interview time and more determined to have me meet her at Antler Ridge so we could chat in person once her treatment was complete and she was “back at it”.
I am so sad that I never got that chance. Thank you Kelly. For all that you have done and all that you taught us.
Antler Ridge was her life, her passion, her mission.
Kelly’s legacy lives on.
Below is my chat with this special lady…..how grateful I feel that I was able to connect with her. A true warrior.
