Tonight is the Double play Wednesday edition of the 80’s at 8 . I rocked a double play of Rainbow, and It started with “Can’t Let You Go” . It is a powerful rock ballad that was released in 1983. The second track in the Rainbow double play was the lead single from their 1981 album Difficult to Cure. “I Surrender” was a commercial and critical success, It reached #19 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart and # 3 on the UK Singles Chart .Originally It was not intended for Rainbow to record and release the song.
Praying Mantis were in the process of recording I Surrender . They had laid down the backing track and were adding the vocals and the record executives told them to stop that Rainbow had the bigger name and they were going to record and release it. WOW!!
