Popular N.J. Italian Restaurant Set To Close After 42 Years
A popular New Jersey Italian restaurant is set to close after 42 years of serving its community. Angeloni’s II Restaurant and Lounge located in Atlantic City will shut its doors for good on April 30 according to NJ.com. They report that Angeloni’s II is closing because owner Alan Angeloni is retiring.
The restaurant was a staple in Atlantic City for over four decades. It served popular Italian dishes such as spaghetti and meatballs, veal parmigiana and braciola, gnocchi, and more. Angeloni’s II also offered an extensive wine and liquor list.
According to the Atlantic City eaterie’s website, Angeloni’s had an authentic Italian flare and warmly welcomed everyone who walked in.
“We dine at Angeloni’s II often. It is far and away our favorite Italian restaurant in a city filled with Italian restaurants,” one guest wrote. “You just feel like family here. They accept reservations, have their own off-street parking lot, and are open every day for lunch and dinner. The staff is very welcoming and professional. The food is very traditional Italian, with several daily specials that are always wonderful. Portions are huge. The wine list is the biggest and best in the city.”
Another guest praised the restaurant’s authenticity, “Not everything has to be glitzy in AC — the ‘real’ Atlantic City can be found at Angeloni’s II. The food is what you’d expect your Italian grandmother (like mine) to cook.”
“Small and dimly lit, it is a great secret in Atlantic City!” a guest wrote.
The restaurant opened in 1981, is located at 2400 Arctic Ave. The original Angeloni’s Italian Restaurant opened in 1973 in Hamilton Township. Prior to the opening of the original Angeloni’s owned a restaurant named Villa Capri and a bar, per the publication.
