Bruce Springsteen Getting His Own ‘Official Day’ in New Jersey
Bruce Springsteen is finally getting his own “official day” in his beloved home state of New Jersey.
Per Billboard, Governor Phil Murphy confirmed this news over the weekend at the American Music Honors event. This event was held at the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, which is located on the campus of Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J. (Fun fact: Springsteen was actually born at Monmouth Medical Center.)
Appropriately, Bruce Springsteen Day will fall on September 23, which is the music icon’s birthday. The official proclamation of the day highlights Springsteen’s many accomplishments. Among them are selling 150 million albums worldwide to various awards including the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Governor Murphy noted when announcing Bruce Springsteen Day, “Truth be told, I know my place in the hierarchy of New Jersey. After all, I may be the 56th individual to be called ‘governor,’ but there will ever only be just one ‘Boss.'”
As of publishing, there has yet to be an announcement about a proper event honoring Bruce Springsteen Day.
