It was a Double Play Wednesday in the RRZ and Sgt. Mike W comes in at #5 with his DJ’s Choice of a Rob Zombie Double Play. The first track was Were An American Band. “We’re an American Band” is a classic rock song originally recorded by the band Grand Funk Railroad in 1973. The song became a hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and has since been covered by many artists over the years. In 2013, Rob Zombie released his awesome Metal version of the song as a tribute to Grand Funk Railroad and their impact on rock music.
The second track was Triumph of king Freak. It’s from is his latest album “The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy,” released in March 2021. “Triumph of King Freak” is a perfect example of Rob Zombie’s style, which combines heavy metal music with horror themes and imagery. The song has a dark, menacing feel, which is intensified by the hard-hitting drums and driving guitar riffs. They come in at #3 with another request from their Heaven and Hell themed request they are doing this week with a Double Play of AC/DC. The first track was “Hells Bells”. Whether you’re a die-hard AC/DC fan or just discovering the band for the first time, “Hells Bells” is a song that is sure to get your blood pumping and your head banging.

She gave me the responsibility of choosing the songs and the first track is Greta’s new one Meeting the Master. it has a 60’s Psychedelic vibe to it that rocks. It starts with a haunting, ethereal introduction that gradually builds in intensity, setting the tone for the rest of the track. This is followed by a driving guitar riff and the powerful, soaring vocals of lead singer Josh Kiszka. The lyrics are poetic and evocative, touching on themes of spirituality, self-discovery, and the search for truth. Meeting The Master is the first release from Greta Van Fleet’s forthcoming album Starcatcher due out July 21st.
The second track was Safari Song. “Safari Song” is a dynamic and electrifying rock track from the Fleet. The Fing Della Baby tops the list at #1 with his RTRF themed Double Play. the first track was Dark Knights by Dorothy. Dorothy is a Los Angeles-based rock band that has been making waves in the music industry since their debut in 2014. The second track was 25 by The Pretty Reckless. I swear that this track should be the theme to the latest James Bond movie No time to Die. Rumor has it that it was submitted to be the theme song but Billie Elish ‘s song was selected. The guitar is playing the James bond signature sound thru the whole song from start to finish and some of the lyrics are bond quotes and movie names. Taylor Momsen says she wrote it when she turned 25 which she does reference in the song. I do not know if it was submitted but if it was I would have rather 25 be the theme to No Time to Die. Great Bond Movie! Dorothy and The Pretty Reckless will be rockin the stage at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ Next Friday night April 28th. Other special guest are Sevendust and Beartooth with Breaking Benjamin Headlining !! Crobot will perform an acoustic set in the VIP .
