It's a Double Play Wednesday 80's at 8 and tonight I rocked a Tommy Shaw themed Double Play. Tommy Shaw is a highly acclaimed guitarist, singer, and songwriter who is best known for his work with the legendary rock band Styx. He joined the band in 1975, bringing with him his unique sound and style that helped to define the band's sound. Shaw's guitar work is known for its intricate solos and melodic hooks, which have become a hallmark of the band's music. He has also contributed many memorable songs to the band's catalog, including "Too Much Time on My Hands," "Blue Collar Man," and "Renegade." Shaw's incredible talent and creativity have helped to make Styx one of the most successful and enduring bands in rock history, and his influence on the genre cannot be overstated. The first track that kicked off The Tommy Shaw themed Double Play was Music Time By Styx. It's from their 1984 album Caught in the Act. "Music Time" was fraught with tensions and conflicts, the song itself remains a testament to Styx's talent and creativity. Its success as a single helped to solidify the band's reputation as one of the most popular and enduring groups in rock music history. "Music Time" reached #9 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart and # 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track was added to the "Caught in the Act" album as a contractual obligation, and the band was in the process of breaking up at the time of its release. Singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw expressed his dislike for the song, and by the time the video was filmed, he had left the band. This resulted in Shaw's limited appearance in the video, and his desire to be filmed separately from the rest of the band. You can watch the music video for Music Time by Styx below:

The second track in the Tommy Shaw themed Double Play was Girls with Guns by Tommy Shaw. Released in 1984, "Girls with Guns" was the lead single from Shaw's second solo album of the same name. Shaw's vocals are powerful and perfectly convey the message of the song. The guitar solo in the middle of the song is a standout moment, showcasing Shaw's incredible skill as a guitarist. "Girls with Guns" was a commercial success, reaching #6 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and #33 on The Billboard Hot 100.The song's success as a single helped to establish Shaw as a solo artist, and paved the way for future releases such as "Lonely School" and "Remo's Theme (What If)". The music video for "Girls with Guns" is also notable, as it features Shaw performing the song on a stage surrounded by women dressed in military garb, complete with guns and ammunition. The imagery is striking and memorable, further cementing the song's theme of female empowerment and strength. you can watch the Music Video for "Girls With Guns' by Tommy Shaw below :
