Rock Hall Prez Greg Harris Talks Class of 2023 On the Jolt

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023 was announced earlier this morning.

As posted on the WDHA website, this year’s group includes – Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, and the Spinners in the Performer Category.

Musical Influence Award (given to a performing artist or group whose music and performance style have directly influenced and helped inspire and evolve rock & roll and music that has impacted youth culture) – DJ Kool Herc and Link Wray.

Musical Excellence Award (given to artists, musicians, songwriters and producers whose originality and influence creating music have had a dramatic impact on music) – Chaka Khan, Al Kooper, and Bernie Taupin.

Ahmet Ertegun Award (given to non-performing industry professionals who, through their dedicated belief and support of artists and their music have had a major influence on the creative development and growth of rock & roll and music that has impacted youth culture) – Don Cornelius.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame President and CEO Greg Harris called into the WDHA Morning Jolt to chat with Jim Monaghan about what’s included in this year’s class.

Here is the 2023 Rock Hall Fans' Ballot

The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Fan Vote is officially over, and here are the five artists making up the Fans’ Ballot.

As with previous years, fans were able to vote once per day online following the announcement of the 2023 Rock Hall nominees. Additionally, visitors of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland were able to vote in person. Once the voting period concluded on April 28, the top five artists would make up the Fans’ Ballot. This ballot will be counted among the other ballots that various artists, historians, and music industry professionals fill out.

The following are the five artists featured on this year’s Fans’ Ballot, along with the number of votes they received.

  • 1. George Michael

    1,040,072 votes

  • 2. Cyndi Lauper

    928,113 votes.

  • 3. Warren Zevon

    634,130 votes.

  • 4. Iron Maiden

    449,682 votes.

  • 5. Soundgarden

    427,040 votes.
