Are You Embarrassed By Your Home?
My wife and I are having some work done at our house. We need to have the driveway redone and also get new front steps.
The driveway doesn’t bring a lot in the way of choices (type, look, décor), but the steps are a whole different beast. We want to have something visually appealing, safe, and of course relatively inexpensive.
Trust me, there are bigger things we need to find the money for to fix up as well, such as a complete kitchen redo and new windows, but we’ll get to that……eventually! LOL
The issue when it comes to renovation goes back to what I said about the steps. There are choices to be made. And you want a look that will be appealing for as long as possible.
From time to time there is updating that your home needs, but since times change quickly, many people find themselves living in homes that feel a bit outdated.
There was a recent poll done, which found that 75% of Americans say that some decorating decisions that have been made over the years have not aged well. Actually, 69%, say they are even embarrassed to have visitors because of the way their home looks!
As for what are the biggest regrets with home décor? Let’s look at the top 5:
- Shag Carpeting
- Recessed Seating
- TVs mounted above eye level
- TVs mounted above a fireplace
- Wood paneled walls.
I guess it’s safe to say, take your time when making home renovation decisions. You want to be happy and not embarrassed for years to come with the way your house looks!
