Get Healthy This Summer With These 5 Meal Ideas
Of course with the grill now open, you’ll want to spend the weekend heating up some burgers and hot dogs. Maybe some red meat or even kabobs. All of that is great and tastes delicious. But what if your looking to get something a little more nutritious in your belly?
We all know how good fish is for you. But each type offers different benefits and of course certain tastes might not be appreciated by everyone.
If you’re looking for which ones give you the most bang for your buck, health-wise…….listen to these nutrition experts. You can boost your system the most by loading up on the following:
- Salmon. This is by far my favorite type of fish to consume. You can season it in so many different ways or just leave it plain. One serving takes care of 50% of your daily vitamin B6, and 90% of your daily vitamin B12 needs.
- Trout. This fish is low in mercury, easy to prepare and high in healthy fats. 3 great characteristics. Give it a shot, you might just like the taste!
- Cod. Not too “fishy” which is nice. You get only 100 calories or so in a three ounce serving. Each three-ounce serving. It’s also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A, D and B12, and proteins.
- Mackerel. I don’t think I’ve ever had Mackerel. But I’d definitely give it a shot! Atlantic mackerel is said to be one of the healthiest fish due to its high fat content. It provides 15.1 grams of fat, including 1.1 grams of omega-3s per serving. Like other fatty fish, mackerel is rich in vitamin A, vitamin B12, selenium and magnesium.
Alright so this last one isn’t as traditional, but give it a chance. It definitely has a lot of benefits!
- Sardines. A single serving offers 60% of your daily calcium and 240% of your daily vitamin B12, with zero carbs and 42 grams protein.

Mike is all about having fun each afternoon. He brings you concert tickets, some fun trivia, and of course the best bands. Other interests outside of being at WDHA are drums, movies, and my family. Also, like most radio personalities, he loves live music. There's nothing like a live show to hype him up! His all-time favorite band is Metallica. But according to him, the list of others is pretty lengthy.
