Blood Donations Are Needed Here In New Jersey
This morning, Jim Monaghan spoke with Robert Hatch, Manager of Donor Recruitment for Vitalant, talking about the current need for New Jersey blood donations.
And we also replayed Jim’s interview with noted author Valerie Fridland.
Every few seconds here in the United States, someone is in need of blood. The need is especially critical here in New Jersey.
Robert Hatch is the Senior Manager Donor Recruitment for Vitalant. He and Jim Monaghan talked about the current need for New Jersey blood donations and how you can help.
Valerie Fridland is a professor of linguistics in the English Department at the University of Nevada, Reno. As such, she has an amazing command of the English language. In her new book Like, Literally, Dude – Arguing For the Good In Bad English, Valerie offers a smart and VERY funny look at how each new generation finds new ways to butcher the English language.
And in the process, Valerie actually defends the very idea of how we change the English language.
Want to know where the word “dude” actually came from? What about calling someone “macaroni” from the song “Yankee Doodle Dandy” – where did THAT come from? And what about regional differences in American English? Valerie and Jim talk about all that and more.
This week on Rock & Ruff we welcome Remy.
Remy is from Halfway Home Animal Rescue and is one of the coolest pups ever! Remy is four years old and needs a family to call her own. Remy’s family gave her up after adding another dog to the family that didn’t like Remy, so she was forced to pack her puppy bags and look for a new home. She is presently being fostered and loves people, children, hiking, is good on a leash, housebroken and bonds very quickly with everyone she meets. She has a great, fun energy and is also an expert cuddler!
She was so very happy to be at WDHA, running around the station, making new friends and meeting everyone. She especially loved out cameraman Tom and didn’t mind at all having the camera pointed in her face. In fact she loved it as you can see from her video and her photo shoot with Joe Frazz where she was posing like the super model she is!
Halfway Home Animal Rescue is an extraordinary group of volunteers who leave no animals behind as you can hear spokesperson Francesca Laurita describe on Rock N’ Ruff. Frannie is fostering Remy and can give any potential adopter all the info you need to know.
For info, please reach out – Halfway Home Animal Rescue and get ready to meet a great dog!
Looking for something fun to do in the area? Chris Swendeman has you covered with this week’s Local Look.
